Soaking up the city begins with hailing a famous yellow taxi cab and making your way to Times Square where the blinding plasma screens seem to light up the streets.

Standing 1,454 feet above the city, the Empire State Building is another quintessential part of the city trip meant to top your bucket list adventures.  Ride to the top and look out over the endless cityscape that makes you feel like anything is possible.  A boat trip to take in Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty infuses your trip with rich cultural history, standing where so many of people’s ancestors have walked through. Catch a show on Broadway and revel in the talent of the triple threats, and also make sure to indulge in the world-renowned cuisine – the hot dog carts. From shopping on Fifth Avenue to strolling through Central Park, every step you take in the city of sleepless nights is sure to keep you daydreaming of building a life here.

Getting There

New York City has a number of major international airport hubs, making flights in and out easy as American apple pie. The resident of Australia can catch a direct flight from Sydney, Darwin, Canberra, Melbourne, Gold Coast and Townsville. Choose La Guardia Airport, John F. Kennedy Airport, or Newark — which is just over the river in New Jersey — but an easy train ride away from the city. People get around the city via subway and, of course, the famous yellow taxis which can easily be hailed at airport terminals. Uber and Lyft are now prevalent and useful to move around the city quickly and with ease as well. If you are visiting the USA don’t forget to explore Los Angeles, Honolulu, Las Vegas, San Francisco and Miami
