New Zealand’s South Island

New Zeland’s South Island is so fantastical it was the backdrop to the epic Lord of the Rings films — it’s sweeping, untouched landscape one of the most spectacular on the planet. From glistening glacial lakes and snow-capped mountains to picture-perfect white-sand beaches and lush green forest, this giant slice of paradise offers unlimited adventure opportunities for every nature-lover.

One of the best places to revel in New Zealand’s beautiful scenery is on top of Roy’s Peak. The views from the top stretch across the two vast, beautiful lakes and across to the snow-capped mountains of New Zealand’s South Island. Sunrise from the top is the most awe-inspiring wonder to behold. While here, you should also choose from hiking one of South Island’s six Great Walks, flying down the raging Rangitata River in a raft, kayaking through picture-perfect Abel Tasman National Park, skiing in the epic Wanaka mountains or even testing your nerve with a bungee jump, skydive or paragliding session in Queenstown.
