It was founded in the north suburbs of Chengdu. See the spectacular Mount Qingcheng and the Dujiangyan Irrigation System. Both of these UNESCO World Heritage sites serve to teach visitors about Chinese history in areas of engineering and religion. The Wenshu Yuan Monastery is a must see old word treasure. This remains a functional religious site.
Chengdu Airport is conveniently located. Upon arrival there are numerous transportation options. Travel by railway, bus or even by river! There is a Metro system as well as coach/bus with extensive highways.
Chengdu has a monsoon-influenced humid subtropical climate and is largely mild and humid with four distinct seasons. Chengdu experiences moderate rainfall, mainly in the warmer months. November through March average temperatures in the mid-low teens (?). April - October range from the low 20's to 30's (?) with the majority of rainfall in July and August. May, June or October seem to be the most desirable times to travel; warmer temperatures with less precipitation.
