East Timor Flights Guide

Also known as Timor-Leste, East Timor is located in Southeast Asia and is so-called because the country occupies half the island of Timor. The capital city, Dili, sits on the water, where tourists can dive and snorkel amongst the bountiful marine life. A short ferry ride takes travelers across dolphin and whale-filled waters, to a mountainous little island called Atauro. Like many islands, East Timor has its own unique history, which Dili recognizes in its Xanana Reading Room, a cultural center designed to showcase the island's history, and so-named in honor of famed resistance leader and president.

Generally, East Timor experiences hot and humid temperatures, and has two distinct seasons: rainy and dry. January through March offers the best window of time to visit the island, and travelers can expect to arrive in Presidente Nicolau Lobato International Airport, a very small and quaint airport in the capital.
