Papeete Flights GuidePapeete is the lovely and remote-feeling capital of French Polynesia. This cultural center boasts only roughly 130,000 people, but despite this, it is a fascinating mixture of French and Polynesian culture, all set to the backdrop of the breathtaking Tahitian shore. Don't believe us? Stroll along the charming seaside esplanade, or through provincial Pepeete Market and see for yourself.
Technically located on the island of Tahiti (which is itself part of the Windward Island chain), and neighboring nearby island Moorea, Papeete is remote enough to feel that there are no easily accessible cities nearby. And yet, though located in the heart of Polynesia, and a French cultural outpost all its own.
Papeete has only two seasons: wet and dry. However, unlike many other tropical island climates in this part of the world, the dry season is very short (August and September) and the wet season very long, with the highest rainfall counts in December and January. The dryness of August and September make it an ideal time for a visit. Otherwise, tourism blooms year round as tourists brave the humidity and occasional monsoons. Visitors will find their way from nearby Faa's International Airport, no matter the time of year they fly.
