It is cooler in the hilly north than the flat south of Tehran. Winters can bring below freezing temperatures. Tehran is relatively dry with most the precipitation falling from November to April. Air pollution is at its worst during winter.The best time to visit Tehran is during No Ruz (Iranian New Year) in late March when locals head for home and Tehran is relatively calm. April and May and September to early November are also good times to visit Tehran with its mild weather.
